Arima Emerson (エメルソン・有馬) is Yamato Akitsuki's main track rival in the Suzuka series, who is ranked first nationally in the 100-meter sprint.
During junior high school, he was always beaten by Kazuki Tsuda, which is still a touchy subject for him. Like Suzuka Asahina, he took up the offer to study abroad in United States, during which he stayed in Tōto University High School until he heard of Yamato's running times back in Japan. Afterward, he decided to go Tōto University and run for their track team. He indirectly helped Yamato realize that Suzuka and their unborn child was more important to him than track which led to Yamato's decision to not attend University and become employed to support his family.
Near the end of the series, he still expresses hopes that he will have a chance to compete with Yamato in the Olympics where he represents Japan in the 100m sprint.
Appearance[]
Emerson is a tall, handsome young man with a slight muscular build with gray eyes and blonde hair. Arima's track outfit consists of a green tank top and shorts, as well as a pair of white running spikes; he also wears a blue track jacket and pants before competing in sprinting events. In his casual attire, Arima usually wears a white collared t-shirt.
Personality[]
Emerson is usually depicted as arrogant and confident in his sprinting abilities. He is even popular among his peers due to his ranking in the 100-meter sprint. However, Arima indirectly gave advice to Yamato, stating that family comes first and that track and field is a hobby; this implies that Arima can be a bit helpful at times despite his arrogance holding him back.
